The road always taken
Since childhood, Oh I mean at young age, I have been pondering
and there are times I ask myself how the roads and houses in Gamdang (Outside)
are so well plan and why my birthplace Churachandpur is in such a mess, at
times jumble with ethnic conflict and sometimes clutter with gun-fires killing
our own brethren for the sake of money or other matter.
There are a lot of reason to be proud about being a Churachandpurians
which I have blog about a year ago which is published is Manipur Express and
Phualvatimes. Conversely, this is the dark side of the town.
There is no denying that the road of the town is in a bad condition.
Lots of speed breaker and potholes showing the welcoming gesture with a bouncy
shook.
Here is the story of my trip on the Sugnu road.
It was back in the 04’s, that I remember my last to Suongpeh,
for my maternal grandpa’s funeral.
I was in 4th standard at that time, the year when
Ccpur is blessed with hailstorm, the size as big as saiseh.
Its 2015 June, My grandma ask me to spend a night with me,
as I haven’t visit her since my grandpa passed away. I was eager to visit her. The
week before that, I have been on the travelling the same road with the RWUS
team heading for Khodaang for a seminar. This time, I am with my mom alone, my
mom was not well, we were on a scooty (active) as she cannot bear the pain of
being hit up and down sitting in a passenger bus.
I was at the moment excited for I will revisited a place
where there are lot of memories and seeing all those exquisite road-side will
give me the feeling and recollection of childhood . The journey toward Sugnu
was indeed a bumpy one
I remember, the famous Sugnu bus with no window glass, the
bora hanging on the windows acting as a parda. The bus this days are far better than those of
which I used to travel.
It’s been 10 years, and there are a lot of changes I encounter
on my way to granny’s place. The amount of trees by the road side, and the
condition of the road has change. The so called all weather road had been
extended to like a few kilometres from Saikot. There are few new villages’ arrangement
seen by the roadside. The pitiful condition of the sugnu road had been heard
since times. I was expecting much changes in the condition of the road. But to
my dismay, the so called pucca road are black top (when I mean black top, I do
literally meant it. They colour the top layer of the road with black Alcatraz)
this would last for maximum a month or two.
The Sugnu road, the hairpin bend, the flaw potholes are the
reason why people escape the road by taking a turn from Moirang for smoother
ride.
High time for the concern authority and the people in the
area to turn up the stone to make this beautiful roadside view un-seen.
(Views are personal)
For a smother journey towards Sugnu Road.
