I remember being left out when my sisters went for the movie. Number of girls were made to dance and we were fully excited to witness the shooting of the films.

My experience with nature

1.      Born in a town, my experience with nature is comparatively less compare with friend who spent their childhood in the interior village life. The first experience I can recall is back in the 1998-99 when an ethnic conflict took place in my district between two communities which one was them was my tribe. We move to a place where it was safe for my community to be, it was a centre for the villagers who come to sell their goods and take them to the town. I could barely remember what was happening, I get to recall this from my sisters who were too scare to tell my parents that I was surround by a snake. They told me that I did not even notice the snake around my leg. In the Manipuri’s folktale, they said that the very day. The snakes are too excited as they see the rains and comes out in plenty number on this day. This whole story of mine was retold by my sister. 2.      This experience was back in the 2000’s. No, we weren’t taught.

Don’t dress in revealing clothing. Don’t go out at night. Cities are not safe, continue your studies at home. This usual advice has been given to us a lot of time to us. Right? Or you might have come across this advice given to your female friend. The discussion that follows after any rape incident is scarcely on the victims personal how, why. When the news of rape flooded, “Numei chavei hija” (a slut) and more statement on how the society blame the victim.  Thanks to the matriarchal system of the Khasis, garo and jantia tribes of Meghalaya. The whole north-eastern states of India has been perceived as unique part of India where women rule the society. Women in this reason are free and are more liberated in compare with the rest of the women in the country. However, suppression of women can be patently visible. Most women fail to recognise the bias attitude embedded in their traditional customary norms and culture and hence they refuse to recognise themselves as prejudices lot

When Football is BAE

Churachandpur in Manipur hometown of well-known sportsperson like Mary Kom, the 5 time world Champion Boxer and a bronze medallist in India and the world. Leaving aside other game, the love of football is at peak. The largest gathering in the district can be seen during a final match of any big tournament going up to ***8*8 Well, if I am to tell you why we love the game like every other football fans I don’t have a reason. Its in our blood. You can witness old men over in their 80s in the stand (No, we don’t have a stand, to be more detailed we don’t have a stadium not even a mini stadium,  we sit on the grass and even on trees if you can get the drift of the game from there and even on electric post and towers) But that does not stop us from following the game.
