                        BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF GRACY HAOKIP
                               BY:; Andrew gualnam,

Gracy Lamkholhing Haokip was born on 5th May
1995, in a small town called Tuibuong,Churachandpur
District,Manipur,India. But was brought up in the
outskirts of the town in a village called “Songgel”.It
was in the countryside where the sounds of vehicles
were hardly hard. She really enjoy the place as it is the place where all her
relatives and close one reside. Its the place where she spent all her
childhood stage of her life. Her sweet mamories includes different types of
games they played with her childhood friend.Which is a must fir all
children both boys and girls in the village.
She was the 5th out of seven sisters in the family. Her father looked after the
family as the head of the family and mother as the supervisor of the family
beside her father. As borne in a Christian family she enjoy the spirit of
being a believer and always tend to attend the sunday school and church
services regularly.
Though her grandparents left before she was borne, but still than her
mother plays a major role in all spheres of her life.As she is the only one
with whom she shared all her sorrows and happiness. Her mother gave
advices and guide her in the right path of life.As her father was the only
one earning in the family he was busy earning livelihood for the family
and could hardly have time for the little child. So she rather accompanied
and help her mother in doing various household chores like
washing, cleaning utensils, floors, cooking, etc. As these were the major
works done by the female members in the family.
They live in their own house which her father built. It was traditionally
built with a tinted roof and a wall made of wooden plank .In which she
share a room with two of her sisters.Where they all live together with
peace and harmony, loving and caring each other.Along with their villagers
they enjoyed the real meaning of life.
Her father was studying till VIIIth standard, and her mom studied till Xth
standard which was quiet enough for a tribal people of that time.Keeping
in mind this she started her study in a school near their village and excel
it throughout her classes. Then in 2005 she got through the JNVST
(Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test)for studying class 6th till 12th
in a reputed JNV,Churachandpur, where thousands of students appeared
for it,but only a limited numbers of 80 students were selected for one
academic session. There he continued her studies with a quality and free
education.Where all students were provided with free
textbooks,notebooks,uniforms,tution fees,admission fees etc.Thus really
helping her parents in the family expenditure and therefore let them look
after her siplings better.
She was a very social girl and develop a close relationship with quiet a
numbers of her school mates and her teachers. She pocessed a frank and
friendly nature. And she was really aware of things happenings in the
society as she informed me a number of times in our discussion like the
prevailing AFSPA(Armed Forces Special Power Act,1958)in Manipur,the
recent Uttarakhand floods and so on.And she is a girl who always wanted
peace. As she also said in the context of religion that”There is no place for
violence in any religion”.And as a Christian believer she believed that she
was just only a journalist on this world and her home is in Heaven where
she will live eternally, where all sorts of pain, hatred will be no more.
After graduated from JNV,Churachandpur she join Tata Institute of Social
Sciences,Tuljapur as a BASS(Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences)student
on the 1st July 2013.Where she met new friends and started living in a new
environment. As times goes on she was now well managed with the new
teachers, environments and friends. She is now on her way to complete her
Bachelors degree from a Deemed University,TISS after six academic
semesters,as a Social Scientist.
