Galngam Diary Affair
Cast: Abraham Jamkhohang Kipgen, Nena Chongloi
Director: David Letgoulien Gangte
Rating 3.5/5

“Janglenkap! Janglenkap! Janglenkap” bawled Abraham Kipgen in the last scene hunting for the wicked drug dealer who slew his brother after an arduous fight with the gang led by Janglenkap. Mr.Janglenkap who is a rich and potent drug dealer, has a good linking with officers and politicians through which he can lug out his drug business. Mark by the police under the superintendent of police Mr. Letgoulien, has a diary in which he has everything and anything about his business. The police were in the hunt of that diary entitled Galngam Diary. The movie is about the quest for the diary and its story thereafter.
Towards the climax, After Abraham seized the diary from Janglenkap, The gang do not stop themselves from getting back the diary which cost the lives of Abraham’s only brother Chingpu. Abraham do not stop himself from taking revenge of those who killed his younger brother either, and decide that he will handle the gang with his abilities and his own tactics .
Enter the actress Nena on screen with her charm and sweet voice in the earlier part of the movie. Abraham and his colleague Haopu were on a break in the same park talking about the issue inside the police department and Haopu’s new transfer order.
Nena is on a date with his boyfriend who try to assault her. As Nena seek help from Abraham and Haopu trying to escape the harassment. The love duo meet. Nena’s boyfriend later join Janglenkap’s gang to take revenge on Abraham.
More eye-rolls are caused by the action which are straining to be natural. And the dialogue as well, however at times it end up being far much too little. The infirm put up of dialogue stops the film from making magnificent. However, grasp it well, as it is an action film.
Galngam diary is a rare brand of thadou-Kuki films that gives fair set up of action with little emotional extract which is common in the thadou-kuki films. Yet, when Abraham found his younger brother dead lying on the floor, Eyes are wet and the scene literally made me cry.
The only thing better than the ideas at work in the film is the chemistry between Nena and Abraham. Abraham’s performance does not need an explanation. He just hit the nails on the head with the assigned role. His charm would just let young girls fall for him. He goes from being a responsible brother to a seamless lover who knows his priority and keep it straight. A police officer with vigour is another strong point.
And Nena, the beautiful and charming darling, who set the role of a young girl in the movie is just another heartthrob of many young boys. Janglenkap on the other hand takes his role well as he depicted the gang leader.
With the wait for the second part of Galngam Diary, a recommendation that there should be little more check on the dialogue as there are quite repetition of words with few slips. Andy saying “cheute” for like four times for instance and a few more which is not mention.
Also, with the film bearing the name Galngam diary the diary has a lesser role in the later part of the film.
The Galngam Diary affair is a must watch video for anyone as the filmmaker did a much appreciated job by releasing the movie along with subtitle. It is an offer for people who has tenderness for action movie. It is a new experience. Wishing the team a success for the next step.
